For the past four months, fans of Jamie Foxx have been looking out for updates and information about how the Oscar-winning actor is doing. In April, the Oscar winner's daughter, Corinne Foxx, shared that her father had "experienced a medical complication" and was receiving treatment but did not go into detail about what happened. After the surprising announcement, a deluge of reports came out that ranged from sources saying Jamie was on the mend to claims that his family was preparing for the worst.
Jamie himself has stayed largely quiet in the months since his scare, but he just took to social media to share another rare update with fans. In the latest, posted to Instagram on Aug. 16, the Django Unchained star thanked those close to him for their support and referred to his health situation an "unexpected dark journey." The details of Jamie's "medical complication" are still being kept private.
After Corinne posted about Jamie's "medical complication" on April 12, conflicting reports came out about the actor, while some of his co-stars and friends also shared their own updates.
On May 3, Jamie spoke out for the first time since the news of his hospitalization. "Appreciate all the love!!!" he wrote on Instagram. "Feeling blessed."
Not long after, on May 12, Corinne called out false reports about her dad on her Instagram story. "Sad to see how the media runs wild," she wrote. "My Dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating. In fact, he was playing pickleball yesterday! Thanks for everyone's prayers and support!"
Since then, Jamie has began posting on social media again, and he's been spotted publicly, including at Topgolf in Chicago and on a boat on the Chicago River.
He's feeling much better these days.

In his Aug. 16 Instagram post, Jamie shared several photos of himself posing in a doorway in a white T-shirt, crochet hat, and sunglasses.
"You're lookin at a man who is thankful… finally startin to feel like myself," he wrote in the caption. "[I]t's been an unexpected dark journey… but I can see the light… I'm thankful to everyone that reached out and sent well wishes and prayers… I have a lot of people to thank… u just don't know how much it meant… I will be thanking all of you personally… and if you didn't know… GOD IS GOOD… all day every day…"
He included the hashtags "#swipeleft #imbackandimbetter #nobaddays."

Many celebrities—including those who have worked with the star—left supportive comments on his latest update.
Tina Knowles wrote, "I along with the world pray for you regularly you are such a special man such a gift to the world of entertainment. God bless you love, mama Tina." Tamar Braxton posted, "Brother I know that feeling!!! It only gets better from here! Thank God." Jeremy Renner, who recently survived a serious accident himself, wrote, "Bless you my friend!!!"
Jamie's Dad Stop Embarrassing Me! co-star Porscha Coleman commented, "Amen! Life is a blessing The world wouldn't be the same without you. Always know that you're loved and we got you!" His The Jamie Foxx Show co-star Garcelle Beauvais wrote, "God is amazing and so are you!" Octavia Spencer, who appeared with Jamie in Breakin' All the Rules and The Soloist, commented, "Yes He is!!! Glad you're better."

Jamie also updated fans in a recent video.

In a video posted to Instagram on July 22, Jamie thanked fans for their support and cleared up some untrue rumors he had heard, including that he had gone blind or was paralyzed. He also shared why he didn't open up about his health sooner.
"I went through something that I thought I would never ever go through," he said. "I know a lot of people were waiting or wanting to hear updates, but to be honest with you, I just didn't want you to see me like that, man. I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show. I didn't want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through."
The actor said that Corinne and his sister, Deidra Dixon, saved his life, and he said that he "went to hell and back." Jamie, who teared up at the end of the video, added, "I'm coming back and I'm able to work."
Prior to the his health scare and the SAG-AFTRA strike, Jamie was working on the film Back in Action with Cameron Diaz. He's seen two of his movies premiere since his medical complication occurred: the thriller God Is a Bullet in June and They Cloned Tyrone for Netflix in July. The actor has a voice role in the comedy Strays, which hits theaters Aug. 18.
